Expensive to Wait

WITH WEATHER WARMING AND PEOPLE COMING OUT OF "HIBERNATION," DO YOU THINK YOU WILL SAVE MONEY POSTPONING EXTERIOR PAINTING?

PAY AN AVERAGE AMOUNT NOW, OR PAY MUCH MORE LATER!

This is so true in home repairs.

  1. The slight pipe drip can take 30 minutes to fix, or much more time later like 3 hours as the rotten wood under the drip has to be replaced also.

  2. Or $2 to get a new extension cord for the frayed one, or thousands of dollars much later when that cord shorts out and starts a fire in the house.

PAY A MINOR AMOUNT NOW TO CORRECT MINOR PAINT IMPERFECTIONS, OR PAY EXPONENTIALLY MORE DOWN THE ROAD.

Painting, especially exteriors, can save a great amount of money, if done in a timely manor.  When the surfaces are presenting just minor peeling/imperfections, there is minor preparation work needed, and money saved by the homeowners.  On the other hand, when much peeling/imperfections are obvious all over the house, the cost to prepare to paint can be anywhere from 8 to 15 times more than if the house were painted timely.  (We can work up numbers for your house, but in general, painting an average house 12 years since last painted will cost approx. $6000; waiting another 5-10 years can run that cost up to $24,000.  And to side that house in vinyl can go well over $30,000.)

PUTTING GOOD PAINT OVER BAD PAINT BEGETS A BAD PAINT JOB

Another related concept which is just as important:  Paint loses its adhesion over time—it does not happen overnight.  Paint imperfections are just like an iceberg:  you see only 10% of the failing paint.  Again, get the house painted timely--when imperfections are starting to appear--or pay an exponentially larger amount later to correct it.  Homeowners with elegant houses regularly paint, keeping up their historic restoration homes, be them Victorian, Dutch, French Colonial or even modern or even modern stucco, vinyl sided or brick.
